This course, RIIWHS202E Enter and Work in Confined Spaces course is designed to provide workers with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely enter and work in confined spaces, particularly within the resources and infrastructure industries. This face-to-face training focuses on the practical aspects of working in high-risk environments where hazards such as poor ventilation, limited access, and potential chemical exposure may exist. Participants will gain expertise in identifying confined spaces, conducting risk assessments, and utilizing safety equipment, ensuring they are well-prepared to handle the challenges of working in these environments.
Through this course, employees will also learn essential techniques for reducing risks while working in confined spaces, including proper planning and preparation before entry, as well as safe procedures for exiting and cleaning up afterward. The training ensures workers are proficient at entering confined spaces.
To enrol in the RIIWHS202E Enter and work in confined spaces training course, you must have:

- Completed Year 10 or be more than 17 years of age.
- Sufficient English written and oral language skills which allow clear and direct communication with our trainer and other students.

Before your training:
Before your training begins, you’ll receive a welcome email with a link to your
Learner Portal. You’ll be asked to complete a short onboarding form and upload the following documents so we can verify your eligibility and finalise your enrolment:
- A copy of your photo identification (front and back)
- Your Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you don’t yet have a USI or need to retrieve it, you can do so via usi.gov.au. Additional information about USIs is available in the USI Provider Factsheet.
What to Bring on the Day
On the day of your training, please bring the following items for sighting and use during practical components:
- Your photo ID
- Harness -(Optional) You are welcome to bring your own safety harness to the training, but this is not mandatory as HAZCON also provides harnesses for student use.
- Planning and preparing for entry of confined spaces
- Enter and work in confined spaces
- Exit confined spaces
- Clean up
During the day, there are theory assessments which contain a mix of multiple choice and short answers and simulated work practical demonstrations.
If required; students are provided with two re-assessment opportunities on the day. Access to our appeals process is available in our student handbook should the student wish to consider that option if competency hasn’t been achieved after two re-assessment opportunities.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL)
If you believe you already possess the industry skills, knowledge and experience to the level/standard for this Unit of Competency, then you may be eligible for RPL. Please contact us to discuss your suitability as an RPL candidate; we will be happy to provide further information and the appropriate documentation to support your application.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be issued a Statement of Attainment by HAZCON Pty Ltd (RTO Code: 21519).
Certificates are issued digitally within 30 calendar days once a student has been assessed as competent, all course requirements have been completed, and all agreed course fees have been received.
Certificates and are issued directly to the student. Where an employer requires a copy, HAZCON may only provide this with the student’s prior written consent. Students are given the opportunity to provide consent during the enrolment process and on the day of training.

In order to identify individual learners’ requirements please bring to our attention any candidate that has any needs such as; literacy, access or, medical restrictions so arrangements can be made prior to course commencement.
Literacy and numeracy requirements
In order to be successful in the unit, students must have sufficient English written and oral language skills to enable clear and direct communication with trainer and other students.
Students must be able to; collaborate effectively with others and complete a short answer written assessment.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

Payment Options for Public Course Bookings
You are required to pay at the time of booking using credit card online or you can select to have the invoice emailed to you to make an electronic funds transfer (EFT), (unless you have a pre-approved trading account). Account Holders – If you are making a booking on behalf of an organisation with a pre-approved account with HAZCON Pty Ltd you can add a Purchase Order number in the billing stage. The invoice will be emailed to you, as the booker, to process. We accept all Australian Federal and State Government Department/Entities and Council Purchase Orders.
