Revised Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Training  for Managers and Supervisors

HAZCON has recently reviewed and revised its 2 day OHS training for managers and supervisors (Risk Leadership Culture Compliance) to include recent legal changes relating to workplace manslaughter, COVID-19 reporting requirements and concepts for successful management.

It is a legal requirement to provide managers and supervisors with the necessary OHS training so that they may undertake their role successfully.  With current issues around pandemic and increases in fines and prison sentences now in place it is a good time to assess who in the team requires training to keep everyone safe and healthy (including mental health) in the workplace. Training assists with both compliance and continual improvement.

The course is informative, interactive and fun as we have gone to great lengths to ensure that we have included activities that are relevant, thought provoking and entertaining!
The course features up to date case studies, guidance material and has specialist input.

Topics featured include:

  • Effective leadership, culture and mindfulness with discussions on 'safety differently' and wisdom;
  • A guide to the components of the health and safety legislative framework and explaining key terms such as 'reasonably practicable';
  • Who does what for health and safety (duty holders and duties including workplace manslaughter);
  • Improving consultation, communication and issue resolution. Explaining Designated Work Groups and the powers of Health and Safety Representatives as well as employer obligations;
  • The role of the regulator and the powers of the inspector;
  • Occupational health and safety management systems, standards for compliance and continual improvement;
  • Human factors, auto-pilot and complacency, human limitations and situational risk;
  • Measuring performance including what can and cannot be measured;
  • Knowledge management and reducing bureaucracy;
  • Specific hazards and solutions for plant, hazardous chemicals, high risk work and psychosocial factors (including mental health initiatives);
  • Incident management and notification (including COVID-19 reporting requirements); and
  • Case studies.

The course has enjoyed excellent feedback and may be tailored to include client policy, procedures and initiatives. For further information please contact training@hazcon.com.au
