Transport Emergency Response Plan (TERP)

Posted by Andy Perry on 14 March 2023

The purpose of this Transport Emergency Response Plan (TERP) is to ensure personnel are able to deal with an emergency specific to transporting dangerous goods throughout Australia. The TERP must include timely notification to relevant duty holders in the chain of responsibility (CoR). The primary aim of the document is to minimise any adverse effects on people, damage to property or harm to the environment. Moreover, the systematic process should include a rapid and effective emergency response and recovery, through the assistance of emergency and security services with accurate and clear information.

A great place to start would be to obtain the Australian Emergency Response Guidebook which is intended for use be the first responders during the initial phase of transportation incident involving dangerous good. Australian-Emergency-Response-Guide-Book-2018(errata 1).pdf (ntc.gov.au)
