I have obtained extensive knowledge in the safety industry over 15 years as a Safety Consultant and a Certified Lead Auditor. I have developed extensive heavy industry safety knowledge from developing and implementing a wide range of policies, procedures, training courses and management systems for clients within the water, aviation, rail infrastructure, construction, logistics management, renewal energy projects and tourism industries.

My role within HAZCON includes providing safety advice to organisations as a Principal Consultant. This includes, developing, maintaining, and auditing safety management systems that comply with legislative and international standards. Furthermore, the position also requires researching, preparing and delivery of Regulatory and Industry approved training programs across Australia and New Zealand, as well as, providing awareness courses tailored to client or workforce needs.

Currently, I provide WorkSafe approved training as well as developing and delivering tailored training solutions to clients across several safety topics, which include, dangerous goods and hazardous substances, excavation, trenching, risk registers and project management, accident / incident investigation with practical corrective actions and mechanical plant operations, including hazardous manual handling.

I have attended and presented at several national conferences and senior board meetings on the National Health and Safety reforms. This includes attending, the Dangerous Goods Advisory Group meetings on a regular basis.

Some of my areas of expertise include, however are not limited to:

  • A sound knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation across Australasia;
  • Hazardous Chemicals knowledge with relevant licences, such as transportation requirements for, classes 2-9 and the implementation of the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS);
  • Conducting compliance audits on hazardous chemical storage facilities and construction sites nationally.
  • Development and assisted with the implementation of various Safety Management Systems that meet compliance and international standards.
  • Assisted with Safety in Design and Hazard Operability studies (HAZOP's).
  • Review safety documentation, which included Risk Registers and Safe Work Method Statements; and
  • Development and delivery of awareness training packages for local property management to maintain compliance and utilisation of relevant tools and resources.
