Agriculture

Agriculture has a combination of hazards to address

Agriculture is one of the most dangerous industries to work in, because of the combinations of hazards that exist. According to Safe Work Australia, if you work in the Agriculture sector, the main risks of harm you face are from hazards including:

  • Plant – Such as tractors, motorbikes and quad bikes. riding a quad bike on uneven terrain loses control, causing the vehicle to roll over and resulting in serious injury.
  • Chemicals – Such as pesticides, herbicides and fertilisers
  • Noise – Prolonged exposure to loud machinery, like grain harvesters, causes hearing loss in a farmworker who doesn’t use ear protection.
  • Dust – A worker cleaning out a grain silo inhales fine dust particles, triggering an asthma attack or long-term respiratory problems.
  • Outdoor work – Exposure to sun and varying weather conditions. A field hand working long hours under the sun without sunscreen or shade develops severe sunburn and risks skin cancer.
  • Working with animals – A worker could be injured by a large animal while working alone in the field.

Hi Ryan

Hope your well.

We haven’t spoken previously but thought I would drop in an email. I just wanted to pass on how well Richard Whitlam did managing the project with us. He has been great to deal with and after a tricky start, Richard took the reins and made it an easy and smooth project. ‘He is’ a credit to Hazcon and has been a pleasure to deal with. The other boys also did a great job ‘with the’ inspections.

Dear Stephen,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this email to thank for the training last month that you had put extra effort to support my study. I do appreciate your patience teaching me during the session. You are not only doing your role as teacher but you have been going beyond your role to make sure I understand full training. Thank you and have a great weekend ahead.

HAZCON personnel have many years’ experience in the asbestos field across a wide range of industries. We offer a full asbestos advisory service including audits, risk assessments, sample analysis, air monitoring and clearance inspections.

We also have a number of specific Asbestos Management Programs which will assist you to manage asbestos in the workplace. This can be in the form of an electronic database made available on your intranet or via a DVD based format.

HAZCON also provides training on your specific asbestos management policies and procedures to maintenance staff and we can update your Asbestos Register to ensure compliance with all legislative requirements.

Dangerous Goods, Hazardous substances and Chemical Training

HAZCON often is called upon to provide training to upskill the employees of companies around Australia. We have a 4 hour course that provides individuals with knowledge about Hazardous Substances and Dangerous Goods. We also deliver a full day 8 hour accredited course, TLID0021 Store and handle dangerous goods and hazardous substances. This course is held at your organisations’ site. During the day, there is a theory assessment which contains a mix of multiple choice questions, short answers as well as a simulated practical work demonstrations. A simulated practical work demonstration may involve spill management, where suitable material will be used by the student to demonstrate competency.

If your organisation identifies a particular process or team that requires a particular set of skills, our HSE Consultants can work with you and your documentation, to develop a tailored/customised training that can go into as much detail on various topics as you require. Ie. 1 hour focus on spill managment, a 2 hour focus risk assessment etc.
