Applying Risk Management Principles Training (JSEA/SWMS)
Course overview
To give participants the knowledge and practical skills to conduct and implement risk management principles with the use of either a Job Safety Environmental Analysis (JSEA) or a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) for high risk construction work (HRCW).
Note:Â The SWMS is similar to a Job Safety Environmental Analysis (JSEA), which has been widely used in the Victorian construction industry. Employers may continue to use existing JSEA formats, providing they contain all the information required in an SWMS.
The training involves practical exercises to give participants a thorough understanding of how to identify, assess, control and evaluate risks in the workplace.
Target Audience:Â Officers, Employers, persons with management and control and workers in the construction and industrial environments.

- Methods to identify hazards;
- Understanding the subjectivity of risk assessments;
- Applying the Hierarchy of controls (HoC) principles as per ISO 31000 to treat the risks;
- Understanding consultative arrangements when developing JSEAs and/or SWMSs for HRCW; and
- Conducting evaluations and review of the control to ensure their effectiveness.
This course is suitable for Officers, Employers, persons with management and control and workers in the construction and industrial environments.
On successful completion of the training you will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
