Asbestos Audit (Div 5)

Division 5 Asbestos Audit

A ‘Division 5’ asbestos audit is a comprehensive assessment conducted to identify and evaluate the presence of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in a building or workplace. This process helps ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and minimizes the risk of asbestos exposure.

The person who has management or control of a workplace has a duty to determine whether there is asbestos present in the workplace. If asbestos is found, its location must be identified and its details recorded in an Asbestos Report & Register. This should also be accompanied by an Asbestos Management Plan (Occupational Health & Safety Regulations 2017).

The asbestos audit report provides a comprehensive record of identified or suspected asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in the building or workplace. It includes details about ACM locations, types, conditions, and associated risks, along with laboratory test results for sampled materials. The report features an asbestos register, risk assessments, photos for easy identification, and actionable recommendations for managing or removing ACMs. It ensures compliance with asbestos regulations, supports the development or update of an asbestos management plan, and serves as a critical tool for protecting health and safety.

The Asbestos Audit must be reviewed and updated every 5 years to capture any deterioration of materials and potential for new recommendations (Managing Asbestos in Workplaces, WorkSafe 2019).

See below for our Audit Request Checklist. If you can send these details to us, we can provide you with an accurate and timely proposal.
