Aim: This accredited module provides individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle dangerous goods and hazardous substances that includes hazardous chemicals, including identifying requirements for working with dangerous goods and/or hazardous chemicals with considerations to confirming site incident procedures and selecting                                                           handling techniques.

Key Areas Covered:

  • Identifying dangerous goods and hazardous chemicals from information that includes, packaging, labelling, registers and Safety Data Sheets or other relevant documentation;
  • Understanding legislative obligations placed on key stakeholders went working with dangerous goods and hazardous chemicals;
  • Identifying different classes and characteristics of dangerous goods and hazardous chemicals through relevant documentation and labelling;
  • Confirm site reporting and incident procedures including notification obligations to the regulator; and
  • Applying load handling techniques when using, storing and transiting dangerous goods and hazardous chemicals.

Target Audience: Anyone working in logistics / transport, warehousing, distribution and storage industries and individuals who may handle dangerous goods and/or hazardous chemicals and or substances.

Note: The term Hazardous Chemicals has been adopted in the relevant states and territories that have adopted the Work Health and Safety Legislation.
