Peter Attwood Image

Peter Attwood BSc, BAppSc, MSc, CPMSIA, RSP(Aust), MAIOH
Managing Director

Peter Attwood is the Director, Principal Consultant and Senior Hygienist of the company. He has degrees in Science, Environmental Health and a Masters in Work Environment Monitoring. He has more than twenty years experience including two and a half years at the University of Wageningen in the Netherlands.

His experience includes position of Principal Occupational Hygienist with the Victorian Health and Safety Authority and Principal Occupational Hygiene and Safety Adviser with the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria.

Peter is fully certified as an OHSMS Auditor for management systems and legislative compliance. He also holds a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training with extensive experience in all areas of HSE training.



Hayden Wing Image

Technical Manager

Hayden is a Certified Occupational Hygienist and full member of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists.

Hayden has over ten years experience working as an Occupational Hygienist in a variety of industries including mining, mineral processing, manufacturing and packaging. This experience includes positions with Southcorp Holdings, Minara Resources and Alcoa Australia, as well as several years within the West Australian public service working as a Mines Inspector.

During his career, Hayden has dealt with the full spectrum of occupational hygiene related activities including asbestos management, the control and safe use of hazardous materials, noise management, respiratory protection, confined space entry, auditing and training.

Hayden also holds a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training.

Ian Good BAppSc
Operations Manager

The Operations Manager of HAZCON, Ian is a new addition to the HAZCON team. Ian holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Chemistry) and is a trained Six Sigma Green Belt

He has over twenty years experience in the chemical and plastics industries as a Quality Assurance Manager, SME for regulatory laws, Regional Technical Manager and Regional Sales Manager. Ian brings with him a broad range of experience covering Hazardous and Dangerous Goods, Poisons, AQIS, ISO 9000, NICNAS and other regional chemical control laws.

Ian also holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.



Ruth Knight Image

Ruth Knight BAppSc, LLB, GradDipLegalPractice, MSIA
Senior Health, Safety & Environmental Consultant

Ruth holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and Bachelor of Laws and has a unique range of skills, as an experienced Consultant and qualified lawyer.

She has over ten years industry experience having worked extensively with contractors in the Water Industry, undertaken project management and asbestos remediation programmes in larger industrial sites. Ruth is an experienced workplace trainer, holding Certificate IV in Assessment & Workplace Training, and has also taught at a major tertiary educational institution.

Ruth has developed a number of comprehensive training programs explaining the OH&S Act 2004 and the OH&S Regulations 2007 in practical terms. Ruth has also provided a range of briefing sessions to boards and senior managers of several major listed Australian companies.



Richard Forster Image

Richard Forster MSIA, MIOSH (UK)

Richard recently joined Hazcon from UK Education support provider EduAction Ltd. He is an experienced OH&S Practitioner of 16 years. Richard has produced and implemented a wide range of policies and procedures, inspection and audit protocols and OH&S training programs. He is a keen believer in sensible risk management and health and well-being.

Richard also has 6 years experience in the fi eld of Major Emergency Response Planning at pan-London level and has Gold and Silver Command experience of dealing with real time emergencies including terrorist attacks, major fires and chemical incidents.

Richard is a Chartered Member of Safety Institute of Australia and a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (UK).

Simon Bennett BSci, BEd

Simon is an experienced academic and corporate trainer who has consulted widely in Occupational Health and Safety and Business, specifi cally in the aged care, health, education, industrial and hospitality sectors.

Simon, a qualified Environmental Scientist and Chemist, has worked as both a secondary teacher and a lecturer in OH&S and Chemistry at various Universities throughout Victoria.

Simon not only has extensive experience in the health, safety and environmental industry but also holds a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Education and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.



David Birch Image

With a background in process engineering and total quality management, David is a highly skilled Quality and OH&S System designer and assessor. He is a registered process assessor in Quality System and Occupational Health & Safety Management System disciplines.

With more than 20 years experience in a contractor management environment, involved in both small and large organisations, David understands the issues surrounding the use of contractors and has extensive experience in the development of contractor management systems for corporate organisations.

David has spent the past 12 years as a partner in a consultancy working with large and small organisations as a leader in gap analysis, risk assessment, process mapping and re-engineering.

David also holds a Certifi cate IV in Assessment & Workplace Training and is actively involved in the presentation of various OH&S training programs.



Antony Coventry Image

Antony Coventry BEd
Health, Safety & Environmental Consultant/Trainer

Antony has a diverse background with training experience in a variety of industries. He began his career as a secondary teacher, but later moved on to train adult learners in various aspects of workplace health and safety.

Antony worked as a training consultant for a range of organisations conducting Height Safety and Confined Space Entry Training. During his time with the company Antony was also involved in the development and implementation of Risk and Safety Audits. He has also managed the education division at Canoeing Victoria, where he was responsible for the training and assessment of outdoor instructors in all aspects OH&S and Risk Management.

Antony has a Bachelor of Education and a Certifi cate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.



Doug Rhodes Image

Doug Rhodes BSc(Hons), CIH, FAIOH

Doug has extensive local and international experience in the implementation, management and audit of occupational health and safety programs, as well as specialised expertise in the technical aspects of OH&S, and quality systems such as ISO 9000. He has broad experience in the delivery of senior consultancy services to oil, gas, chemical and coal industries in Australia, Europe, Asia and South America.

Doug joined HAZCON after more than 25 years in occupational health and safety for Shell Australia and more recently with Shell International, based in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. He has worked on a number of industry and government OH&S committees and spent several years on the WorkSafe Australia Exposure Standards Expert Working Group. Doug is certified in comprehensive practice by the American Board of Industrial Hygienists.



John Johnston Image

John has many years of water industry experience in design, coordination and control of civil and mechanical construction projects generally associated with reticulation systems and infrastructure. Extensive practical and management experience and a sound grasp of ISO Quality and Environment and Safety systems gives John strength in understanding the systems needs of businesses.

More recently, John has operated as a Manager within the Water, Power and Gas Industries, managing the development and implementation of Quality, Safety and Environmental systems. With this experience and application, John is a registered RABQSA auditor in Safety, Quality & Environmental disciplines.

John also holds a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training, and conducts various OH&S training programs.

Health, Safety & Environmental Consultant

Philip has extensive demolition and construction experience with over 10 years experience with fire and emergency services. Philip has been an Officer in the CFA and provided a range of training programs for volunteers and professional staff.

Philip holds a Certificate IV in OH&S and a Certificate IV in Assessment & Workplace Training. He is an active and experienced trainer for Confined Spaces Entry, Fall Prevention, Construction Induction and a broad range of fire and rescue courses.

Michael has extensive experience in the development, implementation and management of occupational health and safety systems and programs across a range of industries that includes mining, utilities (energy & telecommunications) and logistics as well as roles with the safety regulator in Victoria - WorkSafe Victoria. He has also developed, implemented and project managed a range of programs that includes Disaster Management and Recovery and Workers Compensation and Injury Management as well as training programs covering root cause analysis, risk-based decision making and manual handling. Michael is also a trained OHS auditor.

Richard has extensive practical experience in providing complete asbestos project management services. He has worked as a consultant for one of the largest asbestos risk management companies in the UK, managing asbestos remediation projects to ensure compliance with both client and legal requirements.

Richard has a broad range of experience in the engineering and construction industries and is involved in noise, dust and asbestos projects.
