Training:
WorkSafe Victoria Approved Initial Level OH&S Course for HSRs, Managers and Supervisors
Duration: 5 days
Aim: This course has been approved by WorkSafe Victoria and aims to supply HSR’s, Managers and Supervisors with the information and skills required to successfully exercise their powers under the Victorian OH&S Act 2004 and Victorian OH&S Regulations 2007.
This course is practical and interactive, with specifi cally designed exercises to allow HSR’s Managers and Supervisors with the opportunity to practice exercising their powers in a number of ‘mock up’ workplace situations.
Learning Objectives: The NEW learning outcomes for this 5 day program have been assigned by WorkSafe Victoria and include:
- Understand the legal framework for OH&S
- Describe the roles and powers of the key workplace parties (not HSR’s) in the OH&S Act 2004
- Understand the representation role of HSR’s and their legal powers and entitlements
- Understand the role and representative powers of a HSR in the identification of hazards and risk controls at the workplace
- Skills to represent members of a Designated Work Group and participate in workplace consultation, issue resolution and negotiation.

Target Audience: HSR’s, Managers and Supervisors in any workplace. This course is also suitable for anyone wishing to obtain a broad understanding of workplace OH&S.

PLEASE NOTE:
All HSR’s are entitled to attend a “WorkSafe Victoria Approved Initial Level Course for HSR’s” after being elected. The employer is obliged to allow the HSR time off work with pay to attend these courses and must pay the costs associated with the HSR’s attendance (Section 67 of the OH&S Act 2004).
